The best POS software for beauty salons in Guatemala
Published on April 22, 2026 · 11 min read
If you run a beauty salon in Guatemala and you’re shopping for a POS, you’ve probably already hit the frustration: most are foreign systems with no FEL, the local ones are expensive and dated, and nobody talks clearly about pricing. This article is an honest comparison of the real options — including Cuadra, which we built ourselves.
What does a salon need from a POS?
- Fast checkout — cash, card, transfer, all from the same screen
- Appointment booking with automatic reminders
- Stylist commissions tracked without Excel
- Product inventory (shampoo, masks, gels)
- FEL electronic invoicing — the SAT takes no excuses
- Clear reports on how much you sold, on what, and to whom
The real options in 2026
There are three broad groups: global systems (Fresha, Square, Booksy), local systems (the ones that come with your bank or accountant), and systems built for Guatemala (Cuadra). Each carries a different set of trade-offs.
Global systems
Fresha and Square have excellent UX — mature and well designed — but neither issues FEL for Guatemala. That means you need a second system just for invoices, or you issue them by hand through the SAT’s Agencia Virtual every time. For a salon doing 200 sales/month, that’s 6–8 hours a month lost to invoicing.
On top of that, they all charge a per-sale fee: Square 2.6%, Fresha 2%, Booksy 20–30% on marketplace bookings. In a salon selling Q40,000/month, that’s Q800–1,200/month in fees alone — more than any monthly subscription.
Traditional local systems
Local systems (the ones bundled with BI, Banrural, or tax advisors) issue FEL fine, but tend to have dated UI, high monthly fees (Q400–800/month), and slow email support. The appointments and commissions side is almost always weak — they weren’t designed for salons specifically.
Cuadra
We built Cuadra because neither option convinced us. It’s POS + appointments + inventory + FEL + WhatsApp in a single tool, and Guatemalan Spanish support over WhatsApp. The Pro plan is Q249.00 a month, includes 250 DTEs a month and charges no per-sale fee; you can try it for 14 days at no charge.
We’re not the oldest name in the market and we’re still missing features the global systems have (built-in card terminal, booking marketplace). But for a salon in Guatemala, we offer the most complete cost-plus-functionality combination available today.
How to choose
Ask yourself three questions:
- How much do you sell a month? If the volume is low, the SAT’s free application handles your invoicing without paying anything. Once the volume makes typing every invoice by hand untenable, look for a flat plan with no per-sale fee.
- Do you need FEL? In Guatemala the answer is yes. If it is not built in, you have to add whatever issuing costs you separately, and that price is quoted case by case: ask for it in writing before you compare.
- What does your team look like? With 5+ stylists on commission, you need the system to calculate them — not an Excel sheet every payday.
Compare the real options against your real case. The calculator at /precios gives you a concrete cost in 30 seconds, based on your sales volume. If after comparing you stick with another system, that’s fine too — what matters is that you’re getting paid properly and issuing invoices.
